Vision :
My vision is to make Calvert Public Education #1 in the State for rigor and quality.
Mission:
How can we make Calvert Public Education #1 in the State for rigor and quality? As a Calvert County School Board Member, my mission will be to restore Fundamental Learning, Fundamental Rights and Fundamental Values.
Focus needs on students and education first and foremost.
Teach students how to think, not what to think.
Foster a true partnering relationship between teachers and parents to formulate the best way to achieve success.
Remove burdensome responsibilities and paperwork off of the shoulders of our teachers so they can focus on educating.
Enable all students to achieve to the best of their abilities; provide extra help to students who need more attention.
Develop student competence in all aspects of life, not simply in testing.
Provide high school students with mentoring opportunities in the work place.
Provide vocational training for students to fill the demand of skilled trade professions that are in dire need of young intelligent minds.
If we work together as parents, teachers, and community, we can help the students of Calvert Public Education students achieve to their fullest potential and prepare them for a bright future. As a father of two young boys, I have a vested interest in making Calvert Public Education the best in the state, and I will work tirelessly for them and for all Calvert County students.
PRIORITIES
Restore Fundamental Learning
Remove politics from the Classroom:
Our children go to school to learn, not to be indoctrinated. It is our responsibility to teach them how to think, not what to think. As such, I will make it a top priority to remove any tenant of Critical Race Theory (CRT) and other political agendas from CCPS. CRT and its tenets are a damaging ideology being pushed on our children that results in further divide and inequality among our children. While there is not any overt CRT in our county curriculum, there are facets of the agenda being pushed in teacher trainings and documents. We need to embrace all children, regardless of color, and bring them together in unity.
Restore Fundamental Rights
Ensure Parental Rights:
As a school system, we need to restore fundamental parental rights. Parents are the authority over their children, not the school system. Parents have the right to know what is being taught to and required of our children, and we have the right to say no. I will fight to make sure parents are informed by making the curriculum transparent. I will fight to make sure the Constitution reigns in decision-making, including bodily autonomy. And I will fight to make sure parents are heard and have a voice by modifying BOE meeting policies.
Restore Fundamental Values
Strengthen Parent-Teacher Relationships:
By strengthening partnership between parents and teachers, our children have a greater chance of success. I will look for opportunities to implement processes to increase parent-teacher communication and recognition.
Accountability for Administration & Students:
As individuals, we are all responsible for our own behavior. Whether it’s a child mistreating a teacher or student, a teacher mistreating a child, or an administrator mismanaging a budget, all need to be held accountable. I will examine behavioral policies and identify areas for improvement to ensure the punishment fits the crime. I will also ensure processes are in place to hold our BOE administration accountable to the taxpayers and citizens of Calvert County.
